Amanda Valdez  MIALD
Lighting Designer
Amanda Valdez Amanda received a BA in Theatre Arts at California State University, Fresno and an MFA in Lighting Design at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2018. In her final year of study, she was the recipient of the Outstanding Graduate Award of 2017-2018, where she demonstrated the importance of light in art and behavior to faculty and supporters within the fine arts community.

Amanda's professional work as a lighting designer has taken her both across and outside the country. Her experience has included a design fellowship at the Hanger Theatre in Ithaca, New York, working with a New York based broadcast lighting team, The Lighting Design Group, on the 3rd Presidential Debate during the 2016 election, and serving as a lighting associate to award-winning designers Simon Corder and Mike Robertson at the Barbican Centre in London England.

Some theatrical credits include: White Lightning (Triad Stage), Fences, Peter Pan, and The Bomb-itty of Errors (Nevada Conservatory Theatre), The Room (Cherry Art Space), and Way Out West (Hangar Theatre); with occasional designs in the Vegas theatre community as well.

Aside from design work, Amanda has also had the opportunity to be the instructor of record at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Theatre Department. Her teaching experience includes classes both in Stage Production Design and Lighting Design—for which she is currently back at the university teaching part time in these fields.

Amanda joined the shop12 team in 2018 and is currently working on Circa Resort and Casino, Garage Mahal-Circa, The Emerald Resort and Casino (Cebu, Philippines), Galaxy Lot 3 (Macau, China), and Naga-Vladivostok (Russia).

Amanda is a junior member of the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) and a member of the United State Institute of Technical Theatre (USITT).
